Housed in a 19th-century town house, the Musée Alexandre Dumas traces the lives and works of three Dumas: General Thomas-Alexandre Dumas (1762-1806), his son Alexandre Dumas père (1802-1870), the illustrious author of The Three Musketeers, born in Villers-Cotterêts, and Alexandre Dumas fils (1824-1895), author of La Dame aux camélias.
The museum houses numerous original documents, autograph letters, manuscripts, first and illustrated editions, as well as painted, engraved and sculpted portraits.
