The Moselle (German: Mosel, French: Moselle) is a river in France, Luxembourg and Germany (states of Saarland and Rhineland-Palatinate). Via the Our and the Sûre waters also parts of Belgium into the Moselle and Rhine. The Moselle rises at the Col de Bussang in the Vosges at an altitude of 735 metres and flows into the Rhine after 544 kilometres near Koblenz.
The name 'Moselle' comes from the Latin Mosella, a corruption of the Celtic Mosea. Mosella is a diminutive of the partly parallel flowing river Meuse (Latin: Mosa)
