The Château de l'Ébaupinaye is an ancient feudal castle located in Le Breuil-sous-Argenton, a commune of Argentonnay, in Deux-Sèvres. It was built between the 14th and 15th centuries. At the end of the 15th century, the lord of Vendel was the owner of the castle and its estate. The building is said to have been ravaged by a fire started in January 1794 by the Grignon column; however, given the lack of factual elements, it may just be a legend linked to the geographical proximity of a battle during which another castle in the region was indeed burned.
