Regional Natural Park of the Upper Chevreuse Valley

The Haute Vallée de Chevreuse Regional Park is a regional nature park in the Paris region, along and around the Chevreuse Valley (upstream part of the Yvette Valley), the Rambouillet Forest and the Hurepoix Plateau.

Located approximately twenty kilometers southwest of Paris, the high Chevreuse valley remains one of the most important parks of Île-de-France, predominantly rural.

The park is characterized by a variety of trays where culture is practiced, and valleys where Yvette, Rémarde, Mauldre and their tributaries flow. This region has an important historical heritage: castles, churches, mansions and feudal fortifications.

An integral part of the large forest area of the Rambouillet forest, which makes up 40% of its territory, 90% of the area is occupied by forests, nature reserves or farms.

Many trails, including hiking trails, traverse the park and walk to explore the sites. In particular, the trail connects Jean Racine Chevreuse with the Port-Royal des Champs abbey.

The Madeleine castle, medieval fortress built on the heights of the village of Chevreuse, protects the house of the park where all useful information for visiting the park can be obtained. This space, with modern architecture, is integrated into the castle.
