The Jardin Godron, located near the Muséum-Aquarium de Nancy (MAN), is a living showcase for the skills of the city's gardeners. Originally created in the 18th century, the garden retained its botanical vocation until 1993, when the collections were transferred to the Jean-Marie Pelt Botanical Garden site.
Following a complete renovation in 2021, it is now a model for the gardens of tomorrow, with the aim of testing drought-resistant plants in meadows and gravel gardens: a remarkable plant diversity in a small space. It offers a unique mix of trees and plots dedicated to orchards, perennials and bulbs.
The gardeners are also experimenting with different techniques to help conserve water in the soil and welcome wild flora and fauna into the city.
The site, identified for its many rare tree species, is classified as a "remarkable tree complex", a label awarded by the A.R.B.R.E.S. association (Arbres Remarquables, Bilan, Recherche, Étude, Sauvegarde).
The garden has also held the Ecojardin label since 2016.
The aim is to raise visitor awareness of the importance of eco-responsible gardening.
