In the north-east of Lot-et-Garonne in the Lède valley and in the commune of Lacapelle-Biron, the medieval hamlet of Saint-Avit is home to the birthplace of Bernard Palissy, a ceramist, scientist and writer of the Renaissance. The museum that bears his name offers a permanent exhibition devoted to the life and work of this humanist whom the 19th century had named "The French Leonardo da Vinci". To pay tribute to this avant-garde, the museum presents each year, from mid-May to the end of September, exhibitions of renowned contemporary ceramists on a theme that changes each year: "White" in 2025. On the second weekend of August, forty potters take part each year in a large Pottery Fair in the medieval hamlet.
