Founded in 1876, this museum is one of the richest in the Southwest. Located in the historic heart of the town in 4 Renaissance mansions, it presents a wide panorama of the history of art: paintings, sculptures, furniture and European earthenware from the 16th to the 20th century. The museum is renowned for its rich collection of Spanish works from the 18th and 19th centuries, including paintings by Goya (the famous "Self-Portrait").
The rooms present archaeological pieces from the department including the unmissable Venus du Mas, oriental antiquities by the Lebanese diplomat C. Aboussouan, and for the fine arts, among others, paintings collected by the Duke of Aiguillon, minister of Louis XV, European paintings from the 16th to the 19th century including landscapes by Corot, Sisley, Monet ... and works by Bissière, Lalanne, P. Lèbe for the 20th century.
