The Quai Choiseul was built in 1863. The house was built around the same time.
The architecture, joinery and ironwork still respect an earlier, traditional style. The interior decoration, on the other hand, uses murals in an already highly innovative floral style, expressing the themes and motifs of the École de Nancy.
The glass roof by painter-glassworker Antoine BERTIN dates from 1900. Made of simple and lead-set acid-etched glass, decorated with lilies, orchids, nasturtiums, clematis, tulips and irises in shades of green, violet, blue and yellow, this set is considered a precursor to the stained glass art of the École de Nancy.
The house can be visited by appointment (30-minute guided tour).
By appointment only: March, April, June, October, November, December. Reservations recommended for other periods
