The cemetery is located east of the village of Romagne-sous-Montfaucon, 40 kilometers northwest of Verdun. 14246 Americans are buried here, making it the largest American cemetery in Europe. The names of 954 missing are engraved on the walls of the loggias surrounding the chapel.
Its organization and architecture make it a must-see site if you want to grasp what the Americans mean by Duty to Remember.
Since 2016, an interpretation center has enabled visitors to retrace the journey of American soldiers and the history of American commemoration.
Its visitor center is open daily from 9am to 5pm. The chapel is open daily from 9am to 4:15pm. Guided tours and educational workshops are available on request.
