The Battle of Morhange claimed 8,000 lives on both sides on 19 and 20 August 1914. The Riche National Necropolis, the most important French National Necropolis for the Battle of Morhange, gathers the bodies of 2208 soldiers, 577 of whom are unknown. The National Necropolis of Riche, is located on the D79b, halfway between Morhange in the north and Riche in the south.
