Pink, blue, yellow, but what is this strange building that takes on rainbow hues at night?
The Sarrelouis gate is one of the vestiges still visible of the fortified belt that protected Thionville in the 18th century. Today it offers an astonishing perspective of the city entrance. Aesthetically, it is not really. Its mission is above all military. Mouldings on the pediments and cornices are the only embellishments it allows itself. During the Annexation, the Germans condemned it, filled in its lower part and transformed it into a blockhouse.
