The poet Paul Verlaine was born in Metz on March 30, 1844. His birthplace at 2 rue Haute-Pierre, whose second floor is dedicated to him, has been a Maison d'écrivain since 2012 and a Maison d'Illustres since December 2019. Guided tours cover the poet's biography, his work, local history, literature and the arts. Individuals, families and groups of up to 19 people are welcome. Please reserve at least 48 hours in advance. The house is closed on Mondays and public holidays.
