The Col de la Vierge, situated to the east of the Lac des Corbeaux, was the scene of several events which marked the history of the commune of La Bresse and the Bressauds. The first of these events concerns a man trapped by a very violent storm at this spot in the Vosges forest. He left a statuette of the Virgin Mary that he had implored to save his life. This statuette is still visible today, in the hollow of a tree. Also at the neck of the Virgin, a monument dedicated to the deportees from La Bresse to the Haute-Marne in November 1944. The Bressaude population was evacuated to Xoulces before leaving for the Haute Marne. Women and children left their village on foot in the middle of a snowstorm.
