Description

HistoRail® is a railroad museum created and run since 1987 by volunteers with a passion for history and rail travel. The museum's original scenography makes use of the two halls (~500 m²) and exterior (~300 m²) of a former shoe factory (created thanks to the arrival of the railway in Saint-Léonard de Noblat in 1881). The museum's diversified collections of real equipment, some of it functional and showing the various trades involved in rail travel, are closely interwoven with several networks of model trains in various scales from 1/22è to 1/87è and 1/43.5è. Each has an explanatory, educational and entertaining role to play in this scenography of rail travel. It's this intimate combination that gives HistoRail its original appeal.
