The estuary's characteristic fishing huts are part of the Gironde's riverside landscape. Following the Estuary Trail, the hiking path leading from Cussac to Macau, visitors are sure to discover these elegant constructions, stretching their long legs into the waters.
The riverbank's immovable custodians constantly watch over the waters as they rise, fall and occasionally spill over. The estuary: the people of the Medoc have always tried to tame it, to colonise its banks in order to keep a better eye on it, of course to protect it.As such, these are more than just raised fishing huts (even though they allow their occupants to pick up some of the treasures of the estuary in their vast nets: meagre, lamprey, eels and white shrimp are all perfect for riverside grills). These humble constructions are also dedicated to the protection of the estuary as a place of relaxation and discovery.
