Description

Bored into the ramparts in the 19th century, it consists of two arches (entrance/exit), each arch being served by a drawbridge. It made it possible to connect the Verdun station, from where the conscripts flocked, to the town centre and in particular to the Jeanne d'Arc barracks.
In the 1920s, the destruction of the ramparts, already weakened by the bombardments, was completed. Only the Saint Paul's Gate was spared and put into
value by commemorative stelae in honour of Verdun's victory and the reconstruction of the city.
