In the footsteps of Saint-Amé de Remiremont
Saint-Amé, a 7th-century figure, founded the double monastery of Saint-Mont with Saint-Romaric. Born in Grenoble, he lived as a hermit on this mountain, where he has been buried since 629. This spiritual place gave rise to one of Europe?s most influential women?s chapters.
Today, crosses and remains recall this rich past, marking the site of Saint-Amé?s first church and an ancient cemetery. Although the current chapel is closed, the exterior invites visitors to discover a place steeped in history and legend.
Access: Start on foot from the Saint-Étienne-lès-Remiremont mobile police station. Walk available from the Tourist Office and on the Remiremont Plombières Tourisme app.
