The only survivor of some thirty furnaces built between 1860 and 1862 on the left bank of the Saar, it is housed in an 11-metre-high cone.
A precious witness to the industrial revolution, it gives an idea of the harsh working conditions of the time.
Facing the Winter Garden, it is the only surviving example of its type in continental Europe.
