In the absence of an official building, the Town Council used to meet in a hall in the middle of Raon l'Etape. This place which served as a covered market threatened ruin. So, the administration of François Dubois decided to demolish the hall and to build a new building. The work consisted of the construction of a Town Hall with a hall below for the markets and a granary above for a grain store
Its main hall now houses a unique collection of 12 paintings, witnesses of the life of the Old Raon, which retrace the logging and floating of wood in the 18th century. The paintings can be seen during a guided tour, by reservation.
