Château de Hierges

This castle is a remarkable example of the architecture of the Mosan Renaissance, a subtle compromise between military constraints and the splendor of a princely residence (16th century).shaped since the 10th century by successive owners, the castle of Hierges played a decisive role in the transmission of Byzantine knowledge during the return from the Crusades.It was also at the heart of the power struggles between Francis I and Charles V. Residence of great lords and illustrious characters, this fortress was a place of intrigues, power games and strategies that influenced the history of this region.
