This castle is a remarkable example of the architecture of the Mosan Renaissance, a subtle compromise between military constraints and the splendor of a princely residence (16th century).shaped since the 10th century by successive owners, the castle of Hierges played a decisive role in the transmission of Byzantine knowledge during the return from the Crusades.It was also at the heart of the power struggles between Francis I and Charles V. Residence of great lords and illustrious characters, this fortress was a place of intrigues, power games and strategies that influenced the history of this region. The castle of Hierges also had the immense privilege to welcome, in its walls, several royal families during the XXth century. Castle not open to the public.
