At the top of a hill, the Priory remains the last witness of the glorious past of Châtenois
Wife of Gerard of Alsace, Count of Châtenois and first Duke of Lorraine, Hadwide of Namur founded around 1069 a Benedictine Priory dedicated to Saint Peter and dependent on the Abbey of Toul. Several times destroyed then rebuilt during its history, this imposing building formed a main building with two wings that joined the church. Today only one wing remains. Adjacent to the church and dating from the last reconstruction after a fire in the 18th century, this part was still used as a presbytery until recently
Now, throughout the year, the Priory offers various events, permanent and temporary exhibitions
In addition, a walk in the district of the Haut Bourg of Châtenois will allow you to discover an incredible view on the surrounding landscapes.
