The Nativité-de-la-Sainte-Vierge church in Fouchères features a Romanesque nave and choir, as well as a transept dating from the early 13th century, as evidenced by the choir?s hooked capitals. The nave has three bays with ceilings, flanked by a north aisle. The double transept is followed by a flat chevet choir with triplet and rose window. A small bell tower rises above the nave in the third bay, and the stained-glass windows, notably those of Saint Henri, Saint Marguerite and Christ with the Apostles, were created in the late 19th century by the glassmaker Tamoni. The figures in the chevet triplet are by Gruber and date from 1940. The church?s only early stained glass window, dating from 1575, is located in the first north transept bay: it consists of two semi-circular lancets topped by a tympanum with oculus and two spandrels. The theme of the lancets is the Death of the Virgin in the presence of the apostles and the donor, Elion d'Amoncourt, abbot of the abbeys of Saint-Martin de Troyes and Boulancourt, prior of Fouchères. Here, he is presented by Saint Benoît (or Saint Robert de Molesmes?) against a Renaissance-style architectural backdrop. It is this figure who undoubtedly also initiated certain transformations of the building, notably the enlargement of the bays. The glass roof has been restored three times: in 1861, in 1907 by Bonnot, and finally in 1980 by Vinum. An inscription mentioning the donation and the date appears at the bottom of the window. The oculus shows the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in a cloud of cherubs. The building was listed as a historic monument in 1840, and the stained glass windows were given object status on December 27, 1913.
