This monument, located at the place called "Le Grand - Mont", was erected in memory of the French and German soldiers who fell on the battlefield on August 24, 1914, during the German invasion of France
The German troops of the 5th Army of the Imperial KRONPRIZ arriving by LONGUYON, and the French being entrenched above Noërs, the battle was violent and many soldiers fell on both sides. In spite of the French artillery, the French soldiers had to retreat under machine-gun fire in the direction of DAMVILLERS
It is an ossuary: 57 Germans and 91 French (77 unknown and 14 identified)
It bears the epitaph: "Hier ruhen 57 Deutschen und 91 Franzosen gefallen am 24 August 1914"
