Formerly called Sourdon or Sourcedon, Cerdon is indeed a country of springs, streams, fountains and ponds. On the border of the Loiret and the Cher, it has always been an active and extensive town, served from the 18th century onwards by the Paris-Bourges road via Sully. It presents a very homogeneous example of traditional Sologne architecture: wood, cob and above all red or flamed bricks, which can be found both on the modest homes of farm workers and on the bourgeois houses, make up an original décor full of charm.
Cerdon conceals many treasures, such as its numerous old farms, including a rare example of a pyramidal barn. Or the pretty wash house on the road to Clémont. Or its train station transformed into a gîte d'étape. Or the Etang du Puits...
