POINT D'APPUI FORTIFIÉ DE MACHEREN

Description

It is the gateway to the watery Maginot Line that leads to Sarralbe: the fortified stronghold of Macheren, also called P.A.F. de Marienthal by the military, is a part of the Maginot Line comprising barracks, surveillance post and firing point. It consists of three casemates for anti-tank and machine gunners' guns and a small blockhouse for machine guns. Its main mission was the surveillance of the road from Macheren to Marienthal.
