It was built in the mid-nineteenth century by Captain Noël, a battery was added in 1875. It was renovated after the Second World War as a place of memory of the liberation of Toulon, and chosen in 1963 to be the Memorial of the D-Day landings in Provence in 1944.In total, the tower, including the ditch and the drawbridge with its access ramp on both sides are listed as historical monuments by decree of 24 February 2014.
