The Oberhof chapel, known as Notre-Dame du Scapulaire, is located on Rue de l'Oberhof in Kaysersberg.
The Scapular of Our Lady of Mount Carmel (also called the Carmelite Scapular or Brown Scapular) is a piece of clothing worn by members of the Carmelite Order. This scapular also exists in a very reduced form, and is worn by laymen. This devotion appeared among the Carmelites at the end of the thirteenth century and spread to the laity around the fifteenth century.
In its smaller form (in size), it was widely disseminated by the Catholic Church as a sacramental (from the 16th century) and certainly served as a model for devotions to other scapulars. The liturgical feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, celebrated on July 16, has long been associated with that of the Carmelite Scapular.
