The Loewert House in Kaysersberg is one of the most emblematic residences in the wine-growing city. With its half-timbering, its beautiful bay window and its mural depicting a Virgin and Child, the 18th-century building is also known as the House of the Virgin.
The facade facing Place Jean Ittel (opposite the church) is the most beautiful. On the corner of the main street is a beautiful two-storey bay window topped by a small spire. Below the facade is a mural of the Virgin and Child. This painting explains the building's second name: the House of the Virgin.
The gable is finely worked with a loggia of two bays with flat balusters. In summer the building is beautifully decorated with flowers.
Today a bakery is located on the ground floor. Above the arch of the large round-arched door leading to the ground floor is the date of construction: 1739.
