Kaysersberg's imposing Town Hall was built in 1604 by the carpenter Dominique Haecher and served as the residence and administrative center of the Imperial Bailiff (the Emperor's direct representative on Kaysersberg territory).
This Vosges sandstone building is a fine example of the Rhenish Renaissance style. It consists of a large U-shaped building with two floors.
On the first floor is the council chamber with coffered ceiling, paneling and beautiful original doors with marquetry.
