La Jasserie, La Jasserie du Mont-Pilat or, more simply, La Jasserie du Pilat is a locality located in the Loire department in the commune of La Valla-en-Gier on the eastern edge of the commune, on the heights of Saint-Étienne. The locality is also partly in the commune of Doizieux as well as the altisurface. The place is a vast meadow that rises to 1308 m and develops amphitheatrically at the foot of the crêt de la Perdrix, the highest point of the Pilat massif. A stone building topped with a bell tower serving as a farm-inn is located in its center. By extension, this construction itself is now commonly called the Jasserie. Next to it is the fountain of Pilate, which materializes the source of the river Gier, tributary of the Rhône.
