The municipal library of Bar-sur-Aube was founded in 1884 in the town hall building.
In 1989, the library moved to this 16th and 18th century mansion at 13 Rue Saint-Pierre in the historic heart of the city.
After expansion work, the media library, which initially had a surface area of 550 m², now welcomes its readers to a surface area of 1400 m².
There are 30,000 volumes available for loan and 11,000 of the older collections can be consulted on request. The media library has a rich heritage, including the legacy of Dr. Aubertin in the 19th century , the full value of which has yet to be revealed.
