Most of the church was built in the 12th century.
The apse and apse chapels were rebuilt between the 13th and 16th centuries. The western facade was rebuilt in the 18th century. In the 19th century the building was completely renovated in the style of that time. As a secondary victim of the bombing of the nearby bridge, the church was decommissioned in 1944 and closed for good in 1954.
