The Sculpture Garden, designed in 1978 , surrounds the Musée d'Art Contemporain de Dunkerque and displays works of art along the paths and dunes.
The four-hectare garden that surrounds the Lieu d'art et action contemporaine (LAAC), a museum of contemporary art, rises from the movement of the dunes and deepens beneath the water surfaces. The garden is crisscrossed by paths that invite visitors to stroll in the shade, along the water or high up, to enjoy a bird's-eye view of the art installations.
The garden is conceived as a continuation of the museum and also has the right to its own works, which are expertly installed in the four corners. The collection has been expanded over the years and now includes 17 works, plus temporary works commissioned by the contemporary art triennial Art & Industrie.
