Nestled in the bottom of the Cléry valley, between its castle surrounded by white water, its church, its mills, its wash houses, its weirs, La Selle-sur-le-Bied happily combines natural riches and remarkable heritage. Two very old mills are still visible along the river. Upstream from the town, the Loinces mill was owned by the Rozoy abbey in the Middle Ages. This one worked until the 14-18 war
the First World War. Later transformed into a farm, it has kept its old millstream, its weir and its pretty slate-covered washhouse. Downstream from the village, nestled among the trees, the Boyard mill, which still has its wheel, also dates back to the Middle Ages.
