The building to the left of the pharmacy is the Hôtel du Préteur Royal. After the 30 Years' War, Haguenau lost its status as a free city of the Holy Roman Empire and became a French city. After the French Revolution, this building was successively used as the Hôtel de Ville and the Tribunal d'Instance. The square in which the town hall stands is the venue for the town?s major cultural and folk events, including the Festival du Houblon, the Humour des Notes and the Christmas Market.
