The Tour Jean XXII is the only vestige of the palace inhabited by Pierre Duèze, the brother of Pope John XXII, a native of Cahors.
Jacques Duèze, born in Cahors in 1244, came from a wealthy bourgeois family. He was elected pope in 1316, under the name of Jean XXII.
The 34m-high tower features 5 storeys of geminated windows.
The tower is not open to the public, but can be seen from the outside.
