The Hermitain state forest covers 614 hectares and is mainly made up of chestnut, oak and birch trees, etc. Some remarkable trees have been referenced, including an oak with the name "Le Patriarche".
Access to the 2 km forest discovery trail: after Souvigné, at the crossroads of the D10 and the D5, take the direction of Niort, 100 m to the right, you will find a tree-lined car park, the start of the hike. A green sign indicates the hiking trail on this road.
