In northern Alsace, Betschdorf remains one of the two pottery villages that perpetuate ancestral traditions. This pottery is identifiable by its colors. These are salt-glazed stoneware products decorated with cobalt blue. Push open the doors of these artisans and you'll discover pottery that's as traditional as it is contemporary, with something for every generation! Don't hesitate to ask them for a tour of their workshops and the secrets of their manufacture, as the technique is quite surprising, or visit the Pottery Museum, housed in a magnificent restored farmhouse (18th c.).
This remarkable village in northern Alsace, where you can still see a number of 18th-century half-timbered houses, also boasts a strong religious heritage, with its three buildings hiding a wealth of treasures. The churches of Saint-Jean and Saint-Jean-Baptiste feature remarkable organs, while the church of Sainte-Marie boasts 15th-century frescoes, including one depicting the Eucharistic Mill. This is the richest and most interesting painting. There are now only thirteen churches in the world with such a mill. Eleven of them are in Germany, the other two in northern Alsace, in the Alsace Verte region.
In addition to its crafts and churches, the village boasts a rich natural heritage in terms of biotopes, fauna and flora.
The village also offers a wide range of leisure activities (swimming pool, playground, fitness trail, forest paths, picnic areas, service area, etc.).
