HYDRAULIC FACTORY OF THE MADON POWER PLANT
You may have wondered to which factory this brick chimney belonged, which can be seen in the distance, when arriving in Poussay from Mirecourt. Founded around 1840, the factory had successively several activities: sale of parts and accessories (violin keys, pegs, bridges, cases.....). The setting up of the sawmill allowed the cutting and the first definition of various parts of violin making (bow stick, maple and flamed sycamore back, spruce top, ...) thanks to the installation of a steam engine to make the factory run. The simultaneous installation of the driving force with two turbines made it possible to supply not only the sawmill but also the Thibouville factory in Mirecourt. Some of the machines drove band saws, the main one with a blade length of 734 cm and a cutting height of up to 70 cm. The factory finally had to close in 1994.
