Lavoir de Taillancourt

This half-buried late 18th century washhouse has been restored by the architect Valcolorois Merdier and Claude Paulon Aîné, an entrepreneur from Maxey-sur-Vaise. To enter the wash-house, one first goes down 3 steps from the street to the arched door, then another 3 steps to reach the ground level where the long washing basin is buried, fed by a stream called Haute Meuse.
The façade on the street and the shelter protecting the spring's catchment are made of freestone. The roof, surmounted by a lantern, is covered with violin tiles, the framework rests on the walls and on 3 cast iron posts resting on the edge of the basin.
