Church of Laviéville
Romanesque church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste in Laviéville. It was in the centre of the old Dompaire, built between 1150 and 1200 and burnt down in 1475 by the soldiers of the Duke of Burgundy Charles the Bold, it was rebuilt. About 200 inhabitants could worship there. The bells were cast in Robécourt. There are also two altars from the 18th century and two chapels on the south side, because the lords did not mix with the peasants. The church was listed as a historical monument in 1913 for part of it and in 1943 for all of it," explained Hubert Jaunet, recalling that it was gradually abandoned following the construction of the much larger church of Saint-Nicolas around 1840. Laviéville then became part of the commune of Dompaire. Only visit of the outside except during certain events
