Lapoutroie, a picturesque mountain village, combines nature, historical heritage and local produce.
In 842, Lapoutroie, known as Sconerloch, was part of the kingdom of Lothaire Ier. At the time, it was essentially a coal-mining village. However, the presence of an ancient Roman road demonstrates the village's ancient character. The "lo Faudé" peak stands on the commune's territory, and appears to have been a place devoted to the mysteries of the Druidic cult. Over the centuries, the village has had an eventful history.
