Former air base of Rosières-en-Haye: A single place, a double discovery!
To discover, 3 hangars dating from the military period and which will allow you an immersion in the first activity of the site!
This base has been an integral part of the history of the Pont-à-Mousson basin since 1944. It took on its full dimension in 1952 when it became an American NATO base (TRAB)
A real city was built within this enclave: cinema, theater, stores, railway line, chapel, sewage treatment plant. We could count 3,000 to 4,000 people on the base
In 1967, when France left NATO, General de Gaulle asked the Americans to leave. Now a French military base, TRAB became BA 136, 11th fighter wing. The Jaguar became its emblematic aircraft. All external operations conducted by the French Air Force started from this base, as for example during the Gulf War
At the end of the military period, in 1998, a reflection was carried out on the future of this base. EDF Energies Nouvelles proposed the construction of a photovoltaic power plant. This project is ambitious since the power plant, when it was commissioned, was the largest in the world and now (following the development of this energy in the United States and in Asia), the largest in Europe in terms of surface area.
