Exceptional prehistoric site: a carved rock shelter dating back 15,000 years. In the interests of conservation, discover innovative and entertaining reconstructions at the Interpretation Center.
Roc-aux-Sorciers is a prehistoric rock-shelter dwelling, extending for over fifty meters at the foot of a cliff, and featuring monumental sculpted art, as well as more discreet art in the form of engravings. It has been dated to the Middle Magdalenian period, 15,000 years ago.
The site boasts the longest preserved prehistoric frieze (20 metres) in situ, carved, painted and engraved. The works are of a rare finesse. Classified as a Historic Monument in 1955, it is closed to the public for conservation reasons.
The Roc-aux-Sorciers Interpretation Center invites you to come and discover copies of this prehistoric sculpted frieze, which has been put on display in the museum
