Inside, at the base of the two cliffs to the east and west, you can discover 58 of the 116 troglodyte caves found in the Calès site. Initially, these caves were created by extracting blocks of stone necessary for the construction of the feudal castle (which overlooked the cirque). They were then transformed into troglodyte dwellings to accommodate the population living in this circus under the lord's supervision (up to 220 people). You can see suspension rings, silos, dripstones on the outside, beam holes). A green arrow allows you to discover the Cirque de Calès. Start 100 m behind the village church. You can continue your walk by discovering the church of Saint-Denis de Calès, and the ruins of the chapels Ste-Marie and St-Jean.
