The eldest of 11 children, daughter of Georges EPPINGER farmer and Barbe VOGT, Elisabeth was born in this house on September 9, 1814. Elisabeth EPPINGER will only attend school for a few years, but very early on she will show a deep personal piety. In fragile health, often ill and bedridden, her sufferings will help her to prepare herself to fulfil her mission. She had only one dream, that of becoming a nun, of helping the sick and the poor, of taking in orphans and offering them an education.
