Situated on the edge of the Orléans forest, which provided excellent quality clay, Montbarrois has probably had a pottery workshop since the Middle Ages. The brick kiln, which can be admired today at the place called La Tuilerie, is the remnant of an important tile and brick factory of the 19th century, which operated until the beginning of the 1914-1918 war. François-Olivier Bellu was, at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century, the master tile maker. Next to the kiln were the drying sheds and the shed for kneading and moulding, and, behind it, the tilers' house.
The kiln is of very careful construction, made of bricks and stones.
