Roland Garros, pionnier et héros de l'aviation

Pilot who became famous before the war for having beaten various records and after having accomplished the first aerial crossing of the Mediterranean in September 1913, in 7h53 min. He volunteered at the beginning of the war. It is him who will develop the shooting through the axis of the propeller of the aircraft, creating the very first fighter plane. This ingenious system allowed him to shine in combat. In April 1915, forced to land in occupied territory, he was taken prisoner for 34 months in Germany before escaping. He returned to the front in 1918 to fight his last battles in the region.
