A little history..
according to Turkish legend, an Oracle predicted to a Sultan that his daughter would be bitten by a snake on her 18th birthday. In order to prevent this misfortune and to protect his daughter, the Sultan built a tower to lock her in. He was the only one to visit her. On the day of this famous birthday, believing he had won against the Oracle, he visited his daughter and brought her a basket full of fruit. But a snake hidden inside bit the girl, and she died suddenly. The Oracle's prophecy was fulfilled.
Since that day, the Tower has been named after the Sultan's daughter, Leander.
Also called Kiz Kulesi in Turkish, this tower is located on an island between the European and Asian shores of Istanbul, the capital of Turkey. It has served as a lighthouse for centuries, and today houses a restaurant offering a panoramic view to its guests.
The Tour de Léandre is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful buildings on the Bosphorus.
