The village of Oberr?dern, like many others in the area, suffered extensive damage during the Second World War (January 1945). To better understand this part of history, immerse yourself in the world and role of a soldier, and imagine yourself living his daily life by visiting the Casemate Rieffel, a structure rehabilitated in 2008 and still bearing the scars of the 1940 fighting. It was one of 5 fortifications forming part of the main defense line between the Sch?nenbourg artillery works and the Hatten shelter. A 24-man crew commanded by Lieutenant Rieffel was assigned the task of defending the Oberr?dern casemate.
